Grammy-winning Dobro master Jerry Douglas will perform in select U.S. markets as he tours in support of his holiday album, Jerry Christmas. Douglas will appear alongside guitarist John Oates (of Hall & Oates) and Grammy-nominated vocalist/actress Maura O'Connell. The eloquent lyricism and dynamic virtuosity of Jerry Douglas, hailed by the New York Times as "the dobro's matchless contemporary master," is ideally suited to the creation of an Americana Christmas classic. And that's exactly what Jerry has produced: a spirited group of carols, traditional folk tunes, and modern seasonal songs. With a guest vocal by Maura O'Connell, Jerry Christmas gets that warm, down-home holiday feeling just right from the first note to the last.
"The thought of recording a Christmas project has been with me for some time, though I held the idea as a disquieting prospect. After all, these melodies have become established perennials due to the fact they are great songs; to do them disservice would be, to me, unforgivable," Douglas says. "I have tried being faithful to the original versions of these classics precisely because the melodies are so special. My instrument lends itself well, in an emotional sense, to performance of these treasures, allowing me to offer my interpretations of works I have heard sung by such definitive artists as Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, and Burl Ives."

MASHVILLE BRIGADE Hits The Road in 2010
Nashville’s bluegrass supergroup, The Mashville Brigade, is pleased to announce they are available for select road dates in 2010!
The band was formed almost three years ago by a group of friends (Aaron McDaris, Ashby Frank, Darrell Webb, Jim Van Cleve, and Randy Barnes) from various professional touring bands as a way to perform and have some fun together in their spare time while they were off the road. Since the formation of the group, it has become a “must see” event for any Bluegrass fan passing through Nashville. It is the only weekly Bluegrass performing act at Nashville’s bluegrass home, the “World Famous” Station Inn. Well known country and bluegrass music entertainers such as Dierks Bentley, Ronnie Bowman, and Terri Clark, just to name a few, have been seen sitting in with the Brigade. In fact, Dierks requested the group to perform with him at his annual Nashville Charity Motorcycle Ride last year.
For road dates, the Brigade will be featuring the legendary Terry Baucom on banjo. Terry has become one the most influential bluegrass musicians of his generation, and was a founding member of the groundbreaking groups Boone Creek, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, IIIrd Tyme Out, and Lou Reid, Terry Baucom and Carolina.
Along with Terry, the Mashville Brigade consists of some of the brightest stars in the bluegrass world. They are young, but seasoned members and/or veterans of top-notch bluegrass bands such as JD Crowe and the New South, Special Consensus, Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, Wildfire, Marty Raybon and Full Circle, Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper, and the Josh Williams Band to name a few.
The band released their critically acclaimed album “BLUEGRASS SMASH HITS” on Rural Rhythm Records in 2008 as a tribute to the traditional bluegrass songs that they have performed on stage and in jams for years.
The Mashville Brigade promises to deliver a high energy, hard driving, modern but still traditional bluegrass all-star performance and is looking forward to hitting the road!
Contact Ashby Frank by calling (615)290-5533 or Cindy Baucom at (336) 262-4020

It Was A Great Festival In Boone, NC!
(photos by Mike Lane mlanephotography.com)
Thanks to Kenny Johnson of Johnson Entertainment for inviting me and Terry to again be part of the High Country Bluegrass Festival in Boone, North Carolina. It was a picture-perfect weather day and the music was awesome. We had a great time with The Grascals, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Darin & Brooke Aldridge, SureFire and Southern Accent. The banjo workshop was well attended, too. We appreciate everyone who came out!~CB
