IBMA Press Conference
I am spending this week in Nashville for several different functions, including the Press Conference to announce the nominees for the 2010 IBMA Awards. The event was very well attended. The Boxcars (Adam Steffey, Harold Nixon, John Bowman, Keith Garrett and Ron Stewart) provided musicial entertainment on two numbers to open the festivites. As they closed the press conference, Michael Cleveland joined them on fiddle.
Adam Steffey and Claire Lynch made the announcements, after a welcome and overview from IBMA's Executive Director, Dan Hays.
WSM and Grand Ole Opry announcer and music historian, Eddie Stubbs was on hand to announce the two newest inductees into the IBMA Hall of Fame: Louise Scruggs and John Hartford. Music legend, Earl Scruggs and his sons, Gary and Randy were in attendance, as was the daughter of John Hartford.
The 21st Annual IBMA Awards Show will be held at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, Thursday evening, September 30th.

Ashe County Fiddlers Convention, August 6 & 7!!!
This Friday and Saturday it's the 40th Annual Ashe Bluegrass & Old Time Fiddlers Convention at Ashe County Park, Jefferson, NC. This is where I grew up and attended the first one with my Dad (and many of them over the years) I am happy to be going back to serve as MC, along with my good friend, Harold Mitchell. Over $3,600 in prizes awarded to Bluegrass and Old Time Bands and Individuals and Youth. On Saturday afternoon, there will be a Terry Baucom Banjo workshop offered, with all participants receiving a free copy of Terry's DVD-Driving With The Duke. Camping in the rough available. This would be a nice stop and good warm-up to the Galax Convention, as we are less than an hour from there. Full details can be found at www.ashefiddlers.com. Come out for a fun time, sponsored by the Jeffersons Rotary Club.
Thanks,
Cindy
