Knee-Deep PLAYLIST-Show 458- Earl Scruggs remembered

We mourn the passing of Earl Scruggs, but at the same time, celebrate his life and what his music means to all of us.

We also welcome a brand new advertising partner to the show, JIM MILLS BANJO! Jim has the largest selection of pre-war Gibson Banjos (like Earl Scruggs played) anywhere. Thanks, Jim! I have been proud to call you my friend for the past 30 years and I look forward to working with you.

I also visit with Casey Vanhoy, whose grandfather, H.P. Vanhoy, founded the Union Grove Fiddlers Convention in 1924. The convention grew to be a huge event and ran from 1924 to 1979. Casey has now revived the convention for Easter Weekend. We talk about the history of the event and feature songs recorded at Union Grove over 35 years ago, featuring teenagers Sam Bush & Terry Baucom, as well as AL Wood, LW Lambert, New Deal String Band and more.
