IBMA World of Bluegrass-Monday

Today was a full day at the World of Bluegrass from the International Bluegrass Association. This morning was my first official Board Meeting. I am honored to have been elected to the Board of Directors of the IBMA. What a pleasure to serve with such a talented, smart group of people. After the meeting, Terry and I had a nice lunch downstairs at the hotel. After lunch, we moved in to our booth space in the Trade Show area, which was open today between 3 and 6 pm. It was nice to visit with other folks in the Bluegrass Industry this afternoon. I had some time to chat with Jeremy Garrett of the Infamous Stringdusters, Bryan Simpson of Cadillac Sky, Mike Hartgrove of the Lonesome River Band, Ashby Frank of Special Consensus and Mashville Brigade....and lots more. My thanks to Karen Krider (a Bluegrass Friend for a very long time) for operating the booth while Terry participated in radio interviews and I had an Awards Show meeting. Ed Lowe got in from North Carolina this evening and met up with Terry and me. We walked downtown to Broadway and enjoyed dinner at Jack's Bar-B-Q. We had a nice visit with Larry Stephenson and his beautiful wife, Dreama, as well as Ronnie Bowman. The Kruger Brothers got into town and we chatted with them for a while. We also spent time with Janet Deering and Todd Wright from Deering Banjos. Stay tuned for excited news from Deering! After coming back to the Convention Center, we enjoyed the Steel Drivers in their evening showcase in the Music City Ballroom. We then went to lower level of the Convention Center for some late night showcases with Cedar Hill and Lorraine Jordan and Carolina Road. With another full day tomorrow, we headed on in to the room shortly after midnight. I didn't get to take any pictures today, but plan to start posting photos beginning tomorrow.~CB
