25 Years In Radio

Wow!  April, 1983, I went on the air for the first time as a 17 year old high school senior.  My after school job was producing and hosting a show on WKSK Radio...and I loved it!  Over the next few days, I will be sharing thoughts about my career in radio...and some fun stories... as well as more pictures!  Thanks for sharing this time with me.~CB

Houston's Senior Play-Disney's MULAN

I wanted to post a review about my oldest son, Houston, and the play presented by his Senior Class.
They adapted a version of Disney's Mulan and did a wonderful job. I know many evenings and Saturday mornings he would go out the door for play practice. They rehearsed for many weeks and it paid off. The performance was a very professional presentation. It flowed well (actually went by rather quickly---and if you sit through many school plays, you know that's not always the case!) The songs were well sung...just an overall good show that I enjoyed very much (even more so because I had a kid in it!)~CB

It Has Been A Nice Sunday

After such a busy week last week of FarmFest planning, Knee-Deep In Bluegrass recording and editing, commercial production, house cleaning and activites with the kids, this was such a nice relaxing day. I have really enjoyed it. It started with waking up to beautiful sunshine. I put on a pot of coffee and took the dog out for a short walk. We got ready for Church and enjoyed the service. After a nice lunch at Pirate's Landing, I got to stretch out on the couch and enjoy CMT's 100 Greatest Videos! O.K. I will confess I napped a little during part of the show....but Del McCoury, Dolly Parton, Ricky Skaggs, Alison Krauss and more of my favorites, had videos in the countdown. It was especially nice to see Ricky's "Country Boy" video with an appearance by Mr. Bill Monroe.

It's Molly's Birthday!!!

Happy Birthday to my middle child, Molly! She is 15 today. We are home this weekend...and it's raining...but we are going to celebrate! We stayed up late last night and Molly opened her presents just after midnight...since it was officially her birthday then. Her friend, Brittany, spent the night. They watched movies, talked to their friends and made a 10 pm trip to Sonic for a milkshake. Molly was actually born at 3:10 pm on April 5, 1993 in Boone, NC...and it snowed that day...but not today, just rain. Happy Birthday, Molly! Love, Mom

FarmFest Meeting At Farmington Dragway

Today was a very busy day, with our final group meeting prior to the start of FarmFest at Farmington Dragway, April 11 and 12.  For any one who has ever organized a major event, you know how much planning, thinking, calling, emailing, reserving, ordering, producing, buying, selling, printing, mailing and talking go into putting all the elements in place to insure a successful event.  The people I am blessed to work with on this festival have become very good friends over the course of the past several months of planning.  We are looking forward to our efforts paying off with a nice crowd of folks who are enjoying Bluegrass Music at Farmington Dragway, while they visit our vendors and eat good food next Friday and Saturday, April 11 and 12....and I hope YOU are among them!~CB 

My Latest EBAY Find!

Well, just as Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver celebrate their 29th anniversary as band, I find a treasure on EBAY and get the winning bid! It is an 8-Track tape of their very first release on the Sugar Hill label. It still has the shrink wrap on and remains unopened after 29 years of its release. Since my handsome husband is right there on the cover, I was thrilled to add this DL&Q memorabilia to my collection!~CB
