A Great Evening With A Banjo Legend

Saturday evening, Earl Scruggs with Family & Friends performed a wonderful set of music at Ovens Auditorium in Charlotte, NC. 600 passionate fans attended the concert and showed much respect and appreciation to Earl Scruggs and the great artists backing him-including his sons, Gary and Randy, Hoot Hester, Keith Sewell, Jon Randall and Jennifer Kennedy Meredith. "The Moonshine Racers", a four piece band from the Charlotte area, opened the evening with an entertaining acoustic set. Several members of 'The Banjo Hangout'-an online site promoting all styles of banjo-were present and met early for a pre-concert jam session in front of Ovens Auditorium. Terry and I enjoyed visiting with many of them. In fact, several of the 'Hangout' members have posted their photos and observations of the concert and jam session on the forum pages of www.banjohangout.org

Thanks to everyone who came out to the show, presented by John Boy & Billy and Knee-Deep In Bluegrass-in association with promoter, Zach McNabb of The Neighborhood Theatre.~CB
