A Visit To The Monroe Homeplace

Terry and I were in Kentucky over the weekend for the "Bluegrass Returns To Its Roots Festival" in Owensboro. On the way, we were so close to Rosine, Kentucky and the old homeplace of The Father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe, we wanted to stop by. We enjoyed seeing where Bill, Birch and Charlie Monroe grew up. A gentleman named Bob was in the yard as we pulled up. He greeted us and took us inside to see each room. After we spent some time in the home, we went a couple of miles up the road to the Church the Monroes attended, Rosine Methodist Church. A short distance from the Church is the cemetary where members of the Monroe family are buried. In the photos above, in addition to Bill Monroe's grave, you see that of his parents and brothers and sisters. This was a special part of being in the Bluegrass state of Kentucky.~CB
